Over recent years there has been pressure on companies and local government to control pigeon populations and their roosting sites. This is very noticeable in Trafalgar Square where there is now a non-feeding policy. There are now very few pigeons found there.
Pigeons can be responsible for the spread of many pathogens and diseases including salmonella due to their feeding habits. The main problems that they cause are however due to the droppings and nest material from roost sites. The highly corrosive droppings can cause damage to stonework on buildings and sticks etc from the nests will block drains causing water damage to properties.
In addition to pigeons, we deal with other avian pests including starlings. These birds often invade roof spaces to set up nests. These can be very noisy and also can harbour mite. Mite from these nests can cause rashes and other skin irritation.
Bird droppings and nesting material can cause drains and gutters to become blocked. Often bird nests become infested with mite and other pests. The noise from a bird nest in a roof can be annoying and unpleasant for the householder.
No action can be taken whilst a nest is in use.
In most cases the most effective treatment for all birds is to proof the affected area to prevent roosting and perching.
We use a variety of methods to protect properties but individual surveys and quotations are required. Surveying will normally be conducted free of charge.
